Tight Ends to Target

Every single person that plays fantasy football knows who to draft in the first two rounds. Every analyst has talked about it all offseason. But who should you be targeting at each position when you get a little further down the draft board? Champions Round is here to help!

Here are three TEs you should be targeting in every one of your fantasy draft!

Tight End

T.J. Hockenson - Rank: TE3

JUICE Projections: 86 receptions, 915 Receiving Yds, 7 Rec. TD

Hockenson is one of my biggest buys in fantasy this season. The Lions are without a true No. 1 receiver, which means Hockenson will likely dominate target share in 2021. Think about how the Raiders utilize Darren Waller as their top receiving option. Hockenson should see similar volume in an offense that is going to be playing from behind quite a bit. Goff has proven he can support top receiving fantasy options. Everything is pointing up for the former No. 8 overall pick who had a great season in 2020. I would expect a top 5 fantasy season at tight end for Hockenson at the very least if he’s healthy. Moreover, I wouldn’t be shocked to see Hockenson finish as TE2 this year.

Adam Trautman - Rank: TE9

JUICE Projections: 57 receptions, 608 Receiving Yds, 5 Rec. TD

I was already high on Trautman given the flashes he showed last year, the absence of another capable tight end and the draft capital the Saints traded away to get him. Throw in the fact that Michael Thomas is going to miss a big part of the season and now we’re talking about Trautman as the top pass catcher on the team outside of Alvin Kamara? Sign me up. Trautman is likely going to fly up draft boards as we get closer to the season. Buy in now if you have the chance!

Gerald Everett - Rank: TE21

JUICE Projections: 40 receptions, 432 Receiving Yds, 5 Rec. TD

Everett isn’t that high on our Juice projections, but he’s having an incredible camp with the Seahawks and is clearly the TE1 on that team right now. Moreover, he comes to Seattle with new OC Shane Waldron and knows this offense better than anyone else on the team. Without Tyler Higbee in the way, Everett proved he could be a very effective receiver for the Rams. Now he has a chance to be the top dog in Seattle in an offense he’s comfortable in. The Hawks have been looking for a third pass catching weapon outside of D.K. Metcalf and Tyler Lockett. There’s a good chance Everett is that guy and ends the season as a Top 10 tight end.

Other TEs to Target:

  • Irv Smith Jr.
