Monday Night Football Preview Raiders vs. Chargers
Las Vegas Raiders (3-0) vs. Los Angeles Chargers (2-1)
Line: Chargers -3
Total: Over/Under 51.5
Moneyline: Chargers -170
On the last episode of Gambling With Gold I previewed this game and discussed why the Chargers are in a great spot to finally hand the Raiders a loss. Take a listen, but I’ll go more in depth below.
The Chargers are coming off of a big win against the Chiefs in Kansas City. Usually I would take this opportunity to fade a team like this because they’re likely overvalued in the market. However, the Raiders are 3-0 and have a couple of big wins against the Ravens and Steelers. Of course, that Steelers victory doesn’t look so great right now, but it was still impressive.
The biggest issue in this game for the Chargers is that SoFi Stadium is going to act as a home game for the Raiders. How much is that worth? We’ll see. No one has been able to slow down the Raiders aerial attack this season, either. But the Chargers did a great job against Kansas City of forcing turnovers and that is something I could see happening once again tonight.
I expect the Chargers to let it fly against a suspect Raiders defense. Yes, Las Vegas’ front has been impressive. But the Chargers new offensive line has been very good thus far and the Raiders have a weak secondary. Fortunately for them they have yet to face a really good passing attack. Now they face a Chargers team that can absolutely sling it.
My opinion is that the market is properly rating the Chargers but significantly overrating the Raiders given their impressive start. This is still a relatively poor roster and I believe it will show up tonight.
