Gambling With Gold MNF Seattle vs. Washington

Seattle Seahawks (3-7) vs. Washington Football Team (4-6)

Line: SEA -1

Total: 47.5

Preview

The Seahawks travel to Washington with their season hanging in the balance. With a loss there’s a chance that Russell Wilson is shut down for the season and the team moves on from Pete Carroll. Washington has its own motivation. The team is still in contention for a playoff spot and QB Taylor Heinicke is trying to prove he’s a legitimate NFL starter. So who’s going to come out on top tonight?

As of Monday afternoon, the Seahawks (-1) were receiving 46% of the bets and 59% of the money and this line has continued to tick in their direction. As for the total, we are seeing the exact same bet splits, per Action Network. Right now 46% of the bets and 59% of the money is on the under.

If there was ever a get right spot for the Seattle offense, which has been historically awful since Wilson returned from injury, it’s tonight. The Washington defense is ranked 31st in total defensive DVOA and 30th in passing DVOA. Wilson should be able to thrive, especially since they will have to lean heavily on the passing without Chris Carson for the rest of the season. In theory, Tyler Lockett and D.K. Metcalf should have big time performances.

On the other side of the ball, Seattle’s defense is also pretty terrible against the pass (25th in DVOA), but successful at stopping the run (9th). I am anticipating some scoring in this matchup, which is why I will end up placing a small bet on the over.

The Seahawks have struggled in third down situations since Wilson returned, but this figures to be a game in which they should have more success there. Washington is ranked dead last in third down defense and now they’re without Chase Young.

Washington will have Logan Thomas back in this game, which should lead to more opportunities for Terry McLaurin. I don’t anticipate Antonio Gibson having a big game on the ground, but he could be heavily targeted in the passing game.

Pete Carroll teams are 16-2-1 coming off of multi game losing streaks, per Action Network. If there was ever a time to bet on the Seahawks, it’s tonight. They have all the motivation in the world, the offense should find success and all the historical trends point in their direction. It’s an ugly bet given how bad they’ve looked recently. But if you’ve been following all year you know how much I love gross bets. Gotta do it. Seahawks -1.
