Gambling With Gold MNF Preview Giants vs. Chiefs
New York Giants (2-5) vs. Kansas City Chiefs (3-4)
Line: KC -10.5
The Chiefs and Giants both need a win on Monday night to keep any hope alive of making the NFL playoffs. Yes, it’s only week 8, but the Giants still have some life, even if it’s not much, while a 3-5 start would put the Chiefs in a major hole that they may not be able to get out of.
As of Monday morning, the Chiefs have taken 64% of the bets and 78% of the money on the side and the under is attracting 42% of the bets and 78% of the money, per Action Network. That would lead me to believe the sharper bettors are leaning towards the Chiefs -10.5 and the under 52.
The Chiefs are a fixable team. They certainly have all of the talent in the world offensively and should eventually be able to solve the turnover problem that has plagued them all season long. The offense is still clicking and is moving the ball down the field at one of the best rates in the NFL. Patrick Mahomes, Tyreek Hill and Travis Kelce should be able to shine versus a Giants defense that is relatively porous.
The Giants do not put a lot of pressure on the QB, despite being relatively blitz heavy. That is a perfect situation for Mahomes, who is excellent against the blitz but has a terrible offensive line.
The Chiefs defense, as we all know, is complete and utter trash. But the Giants offense isn’t anything to write home about and they’ll be without some of their best offensive weapons, like Saquon Barkley and Kenny Golladay. Daniel Jones still should be able to move the ball down the field and put up some points, which is why I do not love the KC -10 side. The backdoor will be open all game and I expect Jones to have a very productive night.
Daniel Jones is a great QB to back as a road underdog and something I would have loved to have done. The reason I am not is because the Chiefs are in such a hole and coming off of such bad losses that there’s a chance this is a full send get right game for KC and they win by 30. No thanks. I’ll take the over, despite the ticket count.
Prediction: Chiefs 34- NYG 23
NYG KC o52
Daniel Jones over 22.5 rushing yards
1st TD: Jones, Mahomes
Mahomes under 26.5 completions
Jones and Mahomes both rush for TD +1500
